Body & Bath: Cleansers &
Scrubs
Simple
Body & Bath cleansers are used
to keep the skin soft and clean by
cleansing the skin of surface dirt
and impurities. Soap is the most common
cleanser however; it can be harsh
and cause dry skin. There are many
products that can be used as an alternative
to soap. Oatmeal is a mild cleanser
and plain yogurt is also used to cleanse
the skin and keep it soft.
Cleansing
scrubs are an important part of natural
beauty regime. They exfoliate or remove
dead skin cells, which helps to improve
the texture of the skin and helps
the skin to retain moisture. This
enhances the efficiency of moisturizing
lotions and creams. Cleansing scrubs
should be used two to three times
a week depending on the skin type.
We must not forget the rough skin
areas such as the knees, heels &
elbows. The ingredients for cleansers
to be used on the face should be ground
as fine as possible. The skin should
be treated with care, scrub gently
in a circular motion. After rinsing
the skin gently pat the skin dry.
Most
of us grew up with soap & water
to cleanse the face and body causing
the skin to be tight and dry. We did
not have the opportunity to use any
non-soap alternatives. Here are a
few all time favorite alternative
cleansers.
Oatmeal,
our breakfast cereal is a popular
alternative cleanser. It is mild and
can be used on all types of skin.
It is used especially on dry and sensitive
skin. To use just grind the oatmeal
in a food processor or blender until
it is a fine powder. Mix with a little
water to form a paste and massage
into the skin or add ½ cup
of the powder to your bath water to
soften the skin.
